Located in Mt. Shasta City Park, the headwaters of
the Sacramento River bubble forth from a spring to begin their
several hundred mile journey southward to the ocean. Along their
route, one will find many opportunities to enjoy water recreation.
Lake Siskiyou offers camping, fishing and boating, as well as a
public beach.
The upper Sacramento River, from Box Canyon Dam to
Lake Shasta near Redding, is famous for its trout. But even if you
don't fish, the river offers scenic waterfalls, rafting and a
soothing setting for concerts in Dunsmuir City Park.
Golfers have several courses to choose from in
southern Siskiyou County. The Mt. Shasta Golf Resort offers fine
dining in addition to a first-rate 18 hole course. Other courses are
located in McCloud, Weed and Lake Shastina, and each offers its
unique setting and features to golfers of all ages and handicaps.
For the skier, or snowboarder,
Mt. Shasta Board
and Ski Park is the place to be, day or night.
